Strasbourg, France, November 25, 2010

The boat docked about breakfast time in Kehl, Germany, right across the river from Strasbourg. We loaded up the buses for a bus tour of outer Strasbourg, then walked around the old town. The European Parliment meets in Strasbourg, and there are other offices here as well, working with the Euro-Zone and the European Union. The old town is filled with Renaissance architecture and has lovely walking streets and beautiful shop windows.

The Cathedral...

One spire is complefe, the other is left unfinished...

The rose window...

And the famous astrological clock...

What a remarkable clock this is with all its moving parts. We heard and saw it strike 12 o'clock...

Lots of half-timbered houses...

Christmas decorations were everywhere and every style and color...

An old lock still works to let boats in and out of the local river toward the Rhine.

This area is called "petite France"...

And lots of shop windows to admire...

Ahh... A favorite of mine, la droguerie...

With a marie claire advertisement in the window!!! perfect...
