Basel, Switzerland, November 27-28, 2010

The Viking Sun docked for the final time on our cruise in Basel, the Swiss city that sits on the borders of Switzerland, France and Germany. We joined the "roughing it" tour this morning, which didn't really mean much except that we sampled Basel's public transportation, rather than using the big tour buses. Our guide was rather quirky, which has rather dismayed us the longer we have been in Basel. It is really a wonderful city, but I feel the guide did not do justice to it, and the rest of the folks left with a poor introduction to a lovely city.

On Sunday, the 28, we left the ship and met our landlord at the little flat at 11 Gasserstrasser. Our flat is very nice, small, comfortably fitted out and very convenient to the tram line and downtown. Our landlord is really our hostess as she has provided lots of food for us, a tram ticket for the week, and a basket of brochures to give us ideas of what there is to see. We've corresponded by e-mail during the week, and she has been most helpful with answering our questions.

So here we go on tram#11, exploring Basel.
