Cochem, November 22, 2010

We left Cologne during the night and soon after breakfast we turned off the Rhine to the right and sailed up the Moselle River to the little town of Cochem. For the morning we cruised the Moselle admiring the terraces of grapes on the right bank which faces South. It is hard to even imagine how people could construct the terraces, the riverbank is so steep.

Quaint little towns line the river banks...

We have a welcoming committee of ducks and swans at Cochem...

International cuisine available here...

At the city gate...

The church tower...

Half-timbered houses...

A rathouse for the mayor...

Narrow city streets...

A castle broods on a hill overlooking Cochem...

And wine is available at lots of shops...

An old grape harvesting bucket now has become a flower pot! Nice enchanting little village--Cochem...
